Buffering or freezing? The 5 fixes that work
Buffering is almost always a local network issue, not a server one. Work through these fixes in order — most customers never reach number four.
1. Restart the stream source: your router
Unplug your router and streaming device for 30 seconds, then power them back on. This clears stale DNS entries and resets throttled connections. It sounds too simple, but it fixes the majority of cases.
2. Test your real speed at the TV
Run a speed test on the same device that buffers (install a speed test app on the Fire Stick or TV). You need a stable 15 Mbps for HD and 25 Mbps for 4K. "My phone gets 200 Mbps" does not count — Wi-Fi weak spots matter.
3. Move to 5 GHz Wi-Fi or ethernet
The 2.4 GHz band is crowded and slow through walls. If your router broadcasts a 5 GHz network, connect to it. Better still, use an ethernet adapter — wired connections virtually never buffer.
4. Change the player or decoder
In TiviMate: Settings → Player → Video decoder — switch between Hardware and Software. In IPTV Smarters: Settings → Player → EXO Player. Some devices decode certain streams poorly in hardware mode.
5. Try a different channel group
If only one specific channel buffers while the rest are perfect, the issue is that single source. Report it to support with the channel name — we can usually switch you to a backup feed.
Still stuck? Open a ticket with your speed test result and the channels affected, and we will dig in.
